The advantages and difference between laser welding machine and cold welding machine

The cold welding machine is called as ESD internationally. 1. The difference on principle:

The principle of the multi-function cold welding machine is to use charging capacitor to discharge in an ultra-short time of 10-6 to 10–5 seconds with the period of 10-3 to 10–1 seconds. The contact region between the electrode material and the workpiece is instantaneously heated to 8000 Celsius degree to 10000 Celsius degree, and the molten metal in the plasma state is metallurgically transferred to the surface layer of the workpiece. The cold welding machine mainly deposits, seals, and repairs the defects such as wear, scratches, pinholes, cracks, defect deformation, hardness reduction, blowhole, and damage on the surface of metal workpieces.

The laser welding machine uses high-energy laser pulse to locally heat the material in a small area. The energy of the laser diffuses into the material through heat conduction, and the material is melted to form a specific molten pool to achieve the purpose of welding. According the working mode, it can be divided into laser mould welding machine, automatic laser welding machine, laser spot welding machine, fiber transmission laser welding machine.
2. The difference on application and function:
The cold welding machine mainly deposits, seals, and repairs the defects such as wear, scratches, pinholes, cracks, defect deformation, hardness reduction, blowhole, and damage on the surface of metal workpieces.


The laser welding machine is mainly used for the welding of thin-walled materials and precision parts. It can realize spot welding, butt welding, stitch welding, sealing welding, etc. After welding, the base body has no deformation, no annealing, no undercut and no residual stress. It does not change the metal microstructure state, the repair accuracy is high, the coating thickness is from a few micrometers to a few millimeters, and only grinding and polishing are required after welding.
