However, due to the presence of the galvanized layer in the galvanized steel, the welding processability of the galvanized steel is greatly reduced. In the welding process of the galvanized steel, the physical properties of the coated zinc and the base steel are greatly different, and the zinc plating gasification takes precedence over the melting of the base steel and therefore has a large influence on the quality of the galvanized steel during the welding process.
At present, there are three main welding processes for galvanized steel products: resistance welding, argon arc welding and laser welding. When the traditional resistance welding and argon arc welding are used for galvanized sheet, the zinc evaporated in each galvanized layer will be drained with the molten metal around, or remain in the weld seam in the form of bubbles, causing defects such as pores, cracks in the weld seam, resulting in a low tensile strength of the weld.
Laser welding is a high-energy beam welding technology, which has the advantages of high energy density, high welding efficiency, large depth-to-width ratio, small heat-affected zone, little thermal deformation, energy saving, etc. It is very suitable for the requirements of precision welding technology and it is the most widely used welding method in the actual production process.
